I used to think that it took courage to paint, but I have come to the conclusion that there’s a place where you don’t need the courage since there isn’t any resistance. If you’re not afraid then you don’t have to be brave. This is the place I seek to be at when I paint.

My practice is an investigation of making. What does it mean to pull something out into existence? Painting suits well since it becomes a recording of my actions and decisions. All movements leave traces to respond to.

In the research of making, the question of different types of knowledge and states of mind are also embedded. What is practical knowledge, the one within the body? Is there such a thing as undisturbed access to it? And how can that type of know-how stand against a critical approach to the intuitive?
